Satpura is one of the best kept wildlife secrets of India. The beautiful water bodies, hilly backdrop and the dry deciduous forests create a stunning topography and a delightful biodiversity hot-spot. This forest is a habitat to diverse fauna including Leopards, Wild boars, Wild dogs (locally called Dholes), Sloth bears,Indian Bison (Gaur), and Tigers.
Due to its many water-bodies, the park has one of the largest wildlife densities in India and is also home for a large number of both migratory and resident birds.
Bhimbetka (UNESCO Heritqge) : Bhimbetka Caves set in the Vindhyan range with 700 rock shelters of which 400 being paintings are spread over 10 km in length and about 3 km in width. Bihmbetka was put on the World Heritage List of UNESCO in 2003.The caves depict the paintings from Palaeolithic to Medieval era showing the progression of human race with the passage of time. The paintings are a mirror showing evolution of humanity through time.
