Route : Delhi-Guwahati-Shillong-Mawlynnong-Cherrapunjee- Latkysnew-Guwahati-Delhi
Meghalaya is literally the ‘Home of the Clouds’ (Sanskrit: ‘Megh’ meaning Cloud and ‘Alaya’ meaning home). Here lies the town of Mawsynram - known as the place that receives the highest annual rainfall (450 inches!) in the world.
A dream-like place with never ending rains, enthralling emerald green mountains covered in clouds, gurgling waterfalls, unspoiled forests, as well as intriguing cave systems, and the world famous “living root” bridges. These bridges are masterpieces of bio-engineering, invented by the local tribes.
Discover waterfalls, explore caves, hike to see the living root-bridges, as well as visit Khasi tribal villages and/or to take part in local archery betting.
